Amazon Web Services has published a series of updates to the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Gateway across late October 2026.

The gateway enables access to the Amazon Bedrock knowledge base for Bedrock Agents, Strands Agents and Kiro CLI without custom code [^1]. It uses Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base for chunking, embedding and vector indexing. Default chunk size is 300 tokens. AWS recommends 500 to 800 tokens for investigative documents [^2].

AWS Step Functions workflows can now be used as tools for AI agents via the gateway [^3]. This integration is available in all AWS Regions where Bedrock AgentCore Gateway operates [^4]. AWS also announced new Session endpoints for the AgentCore runtime on 30 October [^5].
