Two separate AI research frameworks have been published in preprint this week, targeting weather forecasting performance and recursive model improvement.

Researchers developed the Dynamics-Precipitation Decoupling framework, a plug-and-play module intended to improve daily precipitation forecasts running on weather foundation models. The work was filed to arXiv on 12 October 2026.[^1]

Sakana AI has also published the Multi-Agent Self-Supervision framework, labelled MASS. It is designed to enable frontier AI models to achieve recursive self-improvement. This work was filed 11 October 2026.[^2]
