Google rolled out the managed agent platform this week, confirming wide adoption and upcoming third-party model support.

The platform was formally launched at the Gemini at Work 2026 event. It replaces self-hosted container infrastructure with managed runtime governance. Initial third party model support will include Anthropic Claude; open source model support is planned for later.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated Gemini now has over 1 billion monthly active users, with 90% of Fortune 100 businesses running Gemini Enterprise. The foundation for the agent platform was first announced in April 2026.
